Little Things Matter

Hello Precious One!

I was just talking to a returning coordinator who started a new group after some years and now has more people joining than ever before #GreatWayToSpendTheSummer!

She was sharing with me how important she has found the practice of not to hide what you are eating from others – in other words to eat what you want and how you want it, out in the open in front of others.

This simple act of not hiding what you are eating is an important component to peace with food. Years ago I remember seeing a thin woman put mayonnaise on her hotdog. At the time I thought, “Wow, that takes courage, but she is thin, so no one will be hassling her.” She obviously liked eating it that way, and so had what she wanted, the way she wanted it.

The difficulty with this many times, is that we know what we want and the way we want it – but there may be a relative or friend who thinks they know more, based on worldly dieting and they feel compelled to warn, comment or question us about our choices. This makes “open eating” a challenge for the sensitive eater, and most of us are sensitive about being commented on.

Our solution is the Solemnity we celebrated yesterday – The Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity! The Father, the Son and The Holy Spirit! Think of the power found in our God! We are so blessed to know the fullness, and while I will never be able to fully grasp the complete magnitude, power and immensity of the Trinity, I am smart enough to be able to connect to the power found in the Trinity. The power to reflect on is this: God the Father planned for me before He laid the foundations of the world, He loves me and I am precious to Him. He has a specific plan and purpose for me. Jesus is the Word and “was in the beginning with God; all things were made through him, and without him was not anything made that was made.” (John 1: 2-3) Jesus planned for me and died on the Cross to give me the freedom of salvation if I accept Him. He died on the Cross to show me the value of suffering because He loves me. The Holy Spirit was sent, as promised by Jesus, to stir hearts and minds to comprehend this immense love and Sacrifice of God and to be my helper and guide to bring us into the fullness of God’s revelation. God has us covered in every way! Our only challenge is to accept this fact and turn to God.

Example: In your heart you want to serve God, not diet rules, food or others. God has given you free will, which means you get to make your own decisions. God wants love, respect and obedience. When you serve worldly diet rules, food or others, you are not serving God first. Serving God first becomes a shield for you. IF you are following Light Weigh eating principles, you then have the freedom to have what you want by putting God first. It all weaves together, as you serve God first, accept the freedom with boundaries that He wants you to have and unite with Him and offer up any irritation from outside sources, which is a form of suffering. You also can ask the Holy Spirit for help with that person. Our God is our Rock and our Refuge. Our God is The Answer in fullness. Rejoice!

Yours In Christ The Risen Lord!
